What does autism assessment entail?

At TRAIN, we understand that the process of an autism assessment can feel overwhelming, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way. So, what exactly does an autism assessment at TRAIN involve?

We start with gold-standard measures to conduct our evaluations, ensuring that we gather the most accurate and comprehensive information about your child’s social, communication, and behavioral patterns. Our approach is designed to give you clear, actionable results—a straightforward "yes or no" to whether your child meets the criteria for autism. If we find that your child does not have autism, we won’t leave you in the dark. Instead, we’ll counsel you on other areas of need and guide you toward the right support for your child.

Our assessments are thorough and personalized. We understand that children may behave differently in different settings, so we offer the option to include a school interview or even a school observation if needed. This allows us to gain a more complete understanding of how your child interacts and functions in their everyday environment, helping us to capture the full picture of their needs.

After the assessment, we hold a 2-hour feedback session where we’ll answer all your questions and provide detailed recommendations tailored to your child. You’ll also receive a comprehensive evaluation report that includes findings from any additional assessments, such as cognitive, speech, motor, or other developmental evaluations, if necessary.

At TRAIN, our mission is to provide clarity, support, and a path forward, no matter the outcome of the assessment. We’re here to ensure you leave with a complete understanding of your child’s needs and a plan to help them thrive.
